On the other hand Skinner prominent writers in the history of linguistic conventions and attempts to arrest them intentionality of the author and action with regard to the texts recognize that time. اسکینر و طباطبایی، دو متفکری که در موضوع تاریخ اندیشه در غرب و ایران کار می‌کنند، در پی شناسایی ریشه‌های فکری و تحول و تطور آن هستند. هر چند هر دو نویسنده، دغدغۀ بررسی تاریخ اندیشه را دارند، نتایج کار به دلیل تفاوت در شیوۀ‌ بررسی، متفاوت است. اسکینر، بررسی تاریخ اندیشه را با باور عمیق به تاریخ و نفی عقاید کلی بررسی می کند، در حالی که طباطبایی در هر فعالیت پژوهشی، رؤیای دستیابی به مدرنیته را دارد. طباطبایی، بررسی متفکران را با معیار و ملاک‌هایی همچون مدرنیته و سنت می‌سنجد؛ معیاری که در نهایت او را به این جمع بندی می‌رساند که دچار زوال و انحطاط اندیشه در ایران هستیم. از سوی دیگر اسکینر، نویسندگان برجسته را درون تاریخ و میثاق‌های زبانی قرار می‌دهد و تلاش می‌کند که قصدیت مؤلف و کنش گفتاری آنان را با در نظر گرفتن متون آن مقطع زمانی تشخیص دهد. http://political.ihss.ac.ir/fa/Article/Download/12081
