Among them Mohammad Mojtehed Shabestari and Mohammad Taqi Mesbah Yazdi dealt with religious texts either using traditional ways or hermeneutical ones. Having different methods, tendencies and intensions, they offered to interpretations of religious texts and issues like freedom. Using Quitin Skiner’s methodology of intentional hermeneutics, the authors of the present article try to clarify the main cause of the difference in their political views and its effect on their political views on issues like freedom. Shabestari, taking interpretative and hermeneutical method, with the purpose of preserving fate and human aspect of the believers, interprets religion in a way that can accept freedom and open socio-political conditions with tolerance. Mesbah, focusing on traditional jurisprudential ways, with the purpose of preserving the status of religion in political and social affairs as he believes that religion has perfect and comprehensive teachings and instructions for humans in achieving transcendental goals, limits human freedom and denies liberal social and political conditions. پس از پیروزی انقلاب اسلامی ایران، متخصصان و عالمان حوزه دین و سیاست با مسائل جدید علمی، آراء سیاسی تازه و روش های نوینِ تفسیرِ متون دینی روبرو شدند. در این میان، محمدتقي مصباح یزدی و محمد مجتهد شبستری با استفاده از روش های سنتی یا هرمنوتیکی به سراغ متون دینی رفتند. آنها با بهره‌گیری از روش های مختلف و قصد و نیت متفاوت، دو گونه فهم و تفسیر از متون دینی و مقولاتی چون آزادی عرضه مي‌كنند. نگارندگان در این مقاله با بهره‌گیری از روش هرمنوتیک قصدگرای کوئنتین اسکینر و پرداختن به نیت و انگیزه این دو شخصیت سیاسی-مذهبی، به علت اصلی اختلاف آنها در تفسیر متون دینی و تأثیر این برداشت و تفسیر بر مقوله آزادی در آراء سياسي آنها می‌پردازند. مجتهد شبستری با اتخاذ روش تفسیری و هرمنوتیکی و با قصد حفظ ایمان و انسانیت مؤمنان و تغيير وضع موجود، دین را به گونه اي تفسیر مي‌كند كه قابليت پذیرش آزادی و شرایط سیاسی-اجتماعی باز توأم با مدارا و تساهل را داشته باشد. مصباح یزدی نیز با تأکید بر روش سنتی و فقه محور، به قصد حفظ جايگاه دين در حوزه مسائل سياسي و اجتماعي و با توجه به اینکه معتقد است دین برنامه جامع و کاملی برای تمام امور دنیوی و اخروی انسان دارد، آزادی انسان را محدود و آن را وسیله‌ای برای رسیدن به هدف‌های متعالی‌تری که دین تعیین کرده است می‌داند و اوضاع سیاسی-اجتماعی ليبرال را نفی می کند. http://political.ihss.ac.ir/fa/Article/Download/11807
